14th/15th December – Save the date: ThingsCon 2023 Conference: Unintended Consequences
In keeping with tradition, we are busy organising the 2023 ThingsCon conference again in December. As we adapt to new event practicalities since the pandemic disruptions, we were particularly charmed by the format we created for our Summer edition last year, so we will take that as a point of departure for this year’s event: An interactive evening program on Thursday including a sharing dinner, followed by a full day of interactive sessions and inspiring presentations on the Friday.
It is still early days in the planning, so details are yet to be defined, but we plan, as always, to create a space for inspiration and connecting, mixing practice with academics, a student program and possibly an expo. – some of the ingredients that we are working on to bring together for you.
True to ThingsCon mission, we focus on a theme that we feel resonates with current developments and discussions that explore and promote the development of fair, responsible, and human-centric technologies for the IoT and beyond; our current working theme is ‘Unintended Consequences‘. Unintended can have an outside cause, the ever-increasing complexity. The growing networks, the hidden connectedness of our personal environment. Designing for interference, the use of new augmented intelligence as design material, created hidden behaviour and potential black boxes. Who is responsible for these consequences?
We invite you, the ThingsCon family, to reach out if you would like to be more actively involved, if you have an idea for a session, or a fitting presentation or if you would like to collaborate in some other way. Please reach out to one of us via email or our Slack.
